The auspicious "dragon" - Kyuryudo's "dragon"

Title

Following on from "Dragon A," which was released to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kyuryudo's founding,

We will be selling Yoshimasa Tsuchiya's resin works "Dragon B," "Dragon C," and "Dragon D."

Yoshimasa Tsuchiya's wood carvings are reproduced in resin in the Tsuchiya studio.

The three types of dragons, each in a gentle and colorful color scheme, were personally colored by Yoshimasa Tsuchiya himself. Each piece is a reproduction of the same wood carving, and there are only 10 pieces available, with serial numbers 1 to 10.

On this website, we will be selling a total of 12 works, serial numbers 1 to 4, out of the 10 serial numbers for each work, by lottery.

Artist introduction

Title

Yoshimasa Tsuchiya

Sculptor Yoshimasa Tsuchiya was born in 1977 in Kanagawa Prefecture.
After graduating from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, he studied classical sculpture techniques at the Graduate School of Cultural Property Conservation and Restoration Sculpture, and after completing his doctoral course at the same university, he created colored wooden statues with his own unique expression, using techniques such as those used for Buddhist statues, where the head is split open and crystal or glass eyes are inserted from the inside.
The inspiration for his work comes from the images of living creatures that appear in myths and legends, and his motifs are animal figures that embody formless ideas.
